PEPPER MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS


World - Pepper prices in February 2022 showed a mixed response with India and Indonesia were reported with a decrease
IPC Price Index and Composite Price – Price index of peppers recorded a marginal increase of 2.1% for black pepper to 59.84 points and 2.7% for white pepper to 59.81 points.
Similarly, composite price of black pepper recorded an increase of USD 93 per Mt to USD 4.451 per Mt. Whilst, composite price of white pepper gained USD 162 per Mt to USD
6.189 per Mt.
India – As Indian Rupee weakened against the US Dollar (INR 74.97 @ 1 USD), recording a 1% depreciation, Indian pepper price continued
to be reported with a decreasing trend for the last two months.
Indonesia – Pepper price for Indonesia remained negative since December 2021 as less transactions occurred and exporters reported in search for stock.
Malaysia – Black pepper price for Malaysia responded positively this month, while Malaysia white pepper was reported stable.
Sri Lanka – Sri Lankan pepper price continues to be reported with an increasing trend since October 2021 as this month Sri Lankans celebrate
the Independence Day of Sri Lanka.
Viet Nam – Even though international price for Viet Nam reported stable and unchanged, Viet Nam local price reported with an increasing trend as the market
reopened after the celebration of the Tết Holiday.
