PEPPER MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS

World - Pepper prices in June 2022 showed a negative outlook with no origins reported an increase.
IPC Price Index and Composite Price - Price index of black and pepper recorded a decrease by 6.1% and 4.6% respectively. The price index of black pepper reported
at 54.86 points while price index of white pepper at 55.37 points. Similarly, composite price of black and white pepper also reported with a decrease,
black pepper lost USD 264 per Mt at USD 4,081 per Mt and white pepper dipped by USD 274 per Mt to USD 5,729 per Mt
India - After reported stable in the last two (2) months, the Indian pepper reported with a decreasing
trend this month, which partially could be contributed to the weakening of Indian Rupee against the US Dollar (INR 78.10 @ 1 USD),
recording a 1% depreciation. In addition, erratic rainfall caused by adverse climate change was reported in Kerala State in Mid-June.
Indonesia - As Indonesian Rupiah weakened against the US Dollar (IDR 14,702 @ 1 USD),
recording a 1% depreciation, pepper price for Indonesia continues to be reported with a decreasing trend since April 2022. Harvest in some area were in full swing.
Malaysia - Both local and international prices for Malaysia reported stable this month
Sri Lanka - Sri Lankan pepper price responded negatively this month as the country continued
to be in persistent shortage of essentials i.e. food and fuels due to the severe economic crisis.
Viet Nam - Both local and international prices for Viet Nam remained negative since last month.
US - US, Europe as well as China markets were reported with limited activity with pepper origins continued to be reported with a decrease.
