PEPPER MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS


01 World - Pepper prices at the beginning of 2022 showed a mixed response with Sri Lanka continued recording the highest increase.
02 IPC Price Index and Composite Price - Pepper price index in the beginning of 2022 reported slightly negative as index of the black pepper reported at 59.23 points, a drop by 2.6% while index of white pepper dipped by 2.4% to 60.02 points. Similarly, composite prices of the black and white pepper were also reported with a decreasing trend as composite price of black pepper lost USD 119 per Mt and reported at USD 4,406 per Mt. Whilst, composite price of white pepper recorded a slightly higher loss of USD 156 per Mt and reported at USD 6,211 per MT.
03 India - After reported with an increasing trend in the last four months, pepper price for India reported negative this month. Increase of pepper coming in from Sri Lanka contributed to the lowering of the domestic prices.
04 Indonesia - Pepper price for Indonesia remained negative for the last two months as less transaction happening in the market.
05 Malaysia - The international pepper price for Malaysia was reported stable and unchanged, while the Malaysian local price responded positively this month.
06 Sri Lanka - Sri Lankan pepper price continues to be reported with a significant increase for the last four months. The increase of Sri Lankan price was contributed to the export demand to India.
07 Viet Nam - Black pepper price for both local and international remained negative this month as the Vietnamese celebrates the Tết Holiday.
