PEPPER MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS

01 World - Pepper prices at the end of 2021 showed a mixed response with Sri Lanka continued recording the highest increase.
02 IPC Price Index and Composite Price - Price index of pepper at the end of 2021 reported relatively stable for black pepper at 61.43 points while white pepper recorded a marginal 1.1% dip at 61.49 points. On average for the year 2021 price index of black pepper was reported at 53.49 point while white pepper at 55.85 points and both recording average increase by 56% and 53% respectively. Composite price of black and white pepper were reported at USD 4,569 per Mt and USD 6,363 per Mt respectively. Whilst the average composite price for 2021 was reported at USD 3,978 per Mt for black pepper and USD 5,779 per Mt for white pepper. Thus, making it the highest average in the past 4 years.
03 India - Pepper price for India continues to be reported with an increasing trend in the last four months. The increase of Indian price was contributed to the increase of pepper demand in India.
04 Indonesia - Black pepper price for Indonesia responding negatively this month. Whilst, Indonesia white pepper was reported stable as every year-end the market was reported with less transaction.
05 Malaysia - Despite Malaysian white pepper price was reported with an increasing trend, Malaysian black pepper local price continued responding negatively this month. Whilst, Malaysian black pepper international price was reported stable.
06 Sri Lanka - Sri Lankan pepper price continued to be reported with a significant increase since October. The increase of Sri Lankan price was contributed to export demand from India.
07 Viet Nam - Black pepper price for both local and international responding negatively this month as less pepper transaction in the market.
