PEPPER MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS

01 World - Pepper prices in August 2021 showed a mixed response with a rather positive outlook with the highest increase being recorded at 25% by Malaysian black pepper in local market.
02 IPC Price Index and Composite Price - Price Index of peppers recorded an increase by 3.9% and 5.5% respectively. Price index of black pepper at 56.87 points while price index of white pepper at 60.34 points. Likewise, composite  price of black and white pepper recorded US$ 158 per Mt and US$ 327 Per Mt increase respectively.
03 India - Indian pepper price continued to be reported with a decreasing trend this month.
04 Indonesia - Following the three months being reported negatively, Indonesia pepper price this month recorded an increasing trends as the harvest continues in Lampung. In response to the scarce product in the market, export of Indonesia white pepper in the past few months had decreased to below 1,000 Mt.
05 Malaysia - Both local and international price of Malaysian peppers continued responding positively in the past four months.
06 Sri Lanka - Following the two months being reported positively, Sri Lankan pepper price this month was reported with a decreasing trend.
07 Viet Nam - International price of Viet Nam white pepper continued to be reported with an increasing trend since January 2021.
