PEPPER MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS

01 World - Pepper prices in September 2021 showed a mixed response with a rather positive outlook with Sri Lanka and China were reported with a decrease.
02 IPC Price Index and Composite Price - Price index recorded a mixed response with price index of black pepper reported an increase of 2.2% to 57.69 points while price index white pepper recorded a 1.6% dipped to 60.88 points. Similarly, composite price of black pepper was also reported increasing by USD 93 per Mt to USD 4,291 per Mt. Whilst, composite price of white pepper lost USD 104 per Mt to USD 6,299 per Mt.
03 India - Following two months responding negatively, Indian pepper price this month reported with an increasing trend.
04 Indonesia - Indonesia black pepper price this month recorded with a significant increase. Whilst, white pepper was reported with a relative stable as most regions were reported to have completed their pepper harvest.
05 Malaysia - Both local and international price of Malaysian peppers continued being reported with an increasing trend for the last six months in a row.
06 Sri Lanka - Sri Lankan pepper price continued responding negatively this month which could be contributed to the weakening of Sri Lankan Rupee against the US Dollar this month (LKR 201.99 @ 1 USD), recording a 1% depreciation.
07 Viet Nam - Both local and international price of Viet Nam peppers continued responding positively this month. Furthermore, International price of Viet Nam white pepper continued to be reported with an increasing trend since January 2021.
