PEPPER MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS

01 World - Pepper prices in November 2021 showed a mixed response with Sri Lanka continued recording the highest increase.
02 IPC Price Index and Composite Price - Price Index recorded an increase albeit marginally with price index of black pepper reported a 1.3% increase at 60.94 points while price index of white pepper recorded a 1.6% increase at 62.56 points. Similarly, composite prices of black and white pepper also reported with a marginal increase at USD 4,533 per Mt for black pepper and USD 6,473 per Mt for white pepper.
03 India - Indian pepper price continued to be reported with an increasing trend this month. The increase of Indian price could be contributed to the easing of the COVID-19 pandemic in India.
04 Indonesia - Even though Indonesian Rupiah weakened against the US Dollar (IDR 14,270 @ 1 USD), recording a 1% depreciation, Indonesia pepper price continued to be reported with an increasing trend as less transaction reported in the market.
05 Malaysia - Malaysian pepper price continued to be reported with a decreasing trend for the last two months.
06 Sri Lanka - Sri Lankan pepper price continued to be reported with a significant increase this month. The increase of Sri Lankan price could be contributed to export demand from India since October.
07 Viet Nam - Viet Nam black pepper price both local and international responding negatively this month. Whilst, Viet Nam white pepper responding positively as the market reported rather inactive.
