PEPPER MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS


World - Pepper prices in April 2022 showed a mixed response with only Viet Nam International price recorded with an increase.
IPC Price Index and Composite Price – Price index of pepper recorded a negative sentiment with black pepper reported a marginal dip of 0.7% at 57.95 points and
price index of white pepper recorded a 1.7% dip at 58.10 points. Inline, composite price of peppers were also reported negatively as composite price of black pepper recorded a slight USD 29 per Mt
drop to USD 4,311 per Mt while composite price of white pepper recorded with a much higher drop of USD 104 per Mt to a level of USD 6,012 per Mt.
India – Pepper price for India reported stable this months.
Indonesia – Pepper price for Indonesia responded negatively this month as pepper remained hard to get on farmer level and as most of the stock is only available at middlemen level.
Malaysia –As Malaysian Ringgit weakened against the US Dollar (MYR 4.27 @ 1 USD), recording a 2% depreciation, local pepper price for Malaysia were reported with a decreasing trend this month,
while international pepper price for Malaysia continued reported stable.
Sri Lanka –Following six months being reported positive, Sri Lankan pepper price responded negatively this month which could be contributed to the weakening of Sri Lankan Rupee against the US Dollar (LKR 319.44 @ 1 USD),
recording a 25% depreciation.
Viet Nam – Only Viet Nam International Price responded positively this month, while Viet Nam local price continued responding negatively.
