PEPPER MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS

	World - Pepper prices in April showed a mix response with Sri Lankan local black pepper reported with the highest increase.
	IPC Price Index and Composite Price – Pepper price index for the 4th Month of 2023 reported negative as price index of black pepper recorded 1.4% drop to 45.11 points while price index of white pepper recorded a slight dip by 0.4% to 51.36 points. In accordance, Composite price of black pepper dropped to USD 3,355 per Mt as it lost USD 46 per Mt. Whilst, composite price of white pepper recorded a dip of USD 24 per Mt to be recorded at USD 5,314 per Mt.
	India - Pepper price for India continues to be reported stable for the last three (3) months
	Indonesia - As the Indonesian Rupiah strengthened against the US Dollar (IDR 14,844 @ 1 USD) or 3% appreciation, Indonesian black pepper price reported with an increasing trend this month whilst Indonesian white pepper price reported stable as the market reopened after the Eid al-Fitr public holiday.
	Malaysia - Even though the Malaysian Ringgit strengthened against the US Dollar (MYR 4.42 @ 1 USD) or 1% appreciation, the Malaysian local black pepper price reported with a decreasing trend this month. Whilst the others continues to be reported stable and unchanged.
	Sri Lanka - Sri Lankan local pepper price reported with an increasing trend this month which partially contributed to strengthening of the Sri Lankan Rupee against the US Dollar (LKR 321.42 @ 1 USD) or 3% appreciation.
	Viet Nam - Only Vietnamese local price reported with an increasing trend this month. Whilst the Vietnamese international price reported with a decreasing trend as the market quite stable.
	US - The US market remained stable with selling pressure from pepper origin countries.
