PEPPER MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS

World - Pepper prices in April 2025 exhibited mixed trends. Notably, the US and European markets remained relatively subdued. |

IPC Price Index and Composite Price – The second quarter of 2025 commenced with a cautious outlook. The IPC Price Index for black pepper recorded a marginal decline of 0.9% to 95.98 points, while the index for white pepper dropped by 2.5% to 90.86 points. Consequently, the composite price for black pepper fell by USD 65 per metric ton to USD 7,139 per Mt, while white pepper saw a sharper decline of USD 243 per Mt, averaging at USD 9,402 per Mt. Global pepper trade up to April 2025 showed varying patterns across origins. Brazil reported a significant 30% price increase, while China and Viet Nam recorded year-on-year decreases of 42% and 11%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2024. |

India - The domestic and international prices of Indian pepper have continued to trend upward over the past three months. This increase is partially attributed to the Indian Rupee’s appreciation by 1%, now standing at INR 85.56 per US Dollar. |

Indonesia - Both domestic and international prices of Indonesian pepper showed a downward trend, partially driven by a 2% depreciation of the Indonesian Rupiah, now valued at IDR 16,827 per US Dollar. Reduced stock levels in regions such as North Lampung Province have also contributed to this trend. |

Malaysia - After three months of consistent upward movement, both local and international prices of Malaysian pepper declined in April 2025. |

Sri Lanka - The domestic price of Sri Lankan pepper continued its upward trend for the third consecutive month. |

Viet Nam – Both domestic and international prices of Vietnamese pepper recorded a downward trend. |

Others - Brazilian black pepper prices declined, while prices of Cambodian black pepper and Chinese white pepper remained stable. |
