THE 13TH MEETING OF THE IPC COMMITTEE ON RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Head Office of the Spices Board, India in Cochin, India was chosen as the venue for the 13th Meeting of the IPC Committee on Research and Development (13th IPC R&D) on 05 August 2024. The meeting was hosted by the Spices Board of India and chaired by Dr. A.B. Rema Shree the Director of Research from the Spices Board.

The meeting which was attended by the expert researchers and government representative of the respective member countries, discussed the important topics for research and development pepper which included the product traceability, latest research conducted by IPC member countries, Maximum Residue Trial, Focus on Pepper as well as other development from the IPC member countries. During the meeting, Madam Firna Azura Ekaputri Hj. Marzuki, the Executive Director of IPC elaborated on the future work plan of the IPC Committee on R & D and the plan to conduct technical training on Pepper DNA Profiling with the assistances of the Government of India.

On the sidelines of the 13th IPC R&D, the meeting delegation and the Executive Director along with IPC Secretariat officers visited the Indian Pepper and Spices Trade Association in Mattancherry, Cochin, India which is one of the oldest Pepper and Spices Trade Associations in India. During the visit, the IPC Delegation were accepted by the President of IPSTA Shri. Anand Kishor Kuruwa and his esteemed colleagues. In that occasion, the President of IPSTA shared their latest development on IPSTA Online Trading Platform which is a web and mobile based real-time trading application for member of IPSTA. In that short meeting the Executive Director of IPC also extended the invitation to IPSTA to be attend and talk at the 52nd Annual Sessions and Meetings of the International Pepper Community and International Spice Exhibition scheduled on 18 – 21 November 2024 at Hilton Hotel Colombo, Sri Lanka.
