Executive Director of IPC attended the UN-CAPSA Meeting in Bogor
Mr. W.D.L. Gunaratne, Executive Director of International Pepper Community attended a meeting organized by CAPSA in conjunction with the Eleventh Session of the Governing Council of the Centre for the Alleviation of Poverty through Sustainable Agriculture (UN-CAPSA) as an observer. The Meeting was held in Bogor from 12 to 13 February 2015 and was hosted by the Government of Indonesia.
The eleventh session of the Governing Council of the Centre for the Alleviation of Poverty through Sustainable Agriculture (CAPSA) were attended among other by official representatives from Fiji, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka and Thailand. A number of observers from international organizations including IPC Jakarta also participated at the meeting and Session. CAPSA is a subsidiary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
The Governing Council of the Centre for the Alleviation of Poverty through Sustainable Agriculture reviewed the implementation of CAPSA's 2014 work programme, and the proposed 2015 work programme, as well as the administrative and financial status of CAPSA. The progress of the Network for Knowledge Transfer on Sustainable Agricultural Technologies and Improved Market Linkages in South and South-East Asia (SATNET Asia) was also presented.
