Iman Pambagyo, Director General seeks IPC member countries to strengthen collaborative works in responding to the quality related issues
The expert members of the IPC Committee on Quality and officials from India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Viet Nam and the Philippines met in Jakarta from 24th - 25th March 2017 discussing number of agendas of the quality related issues in the pepper industry. The 23rd Meeting of IPC Committee on Quality was hosted by the IPC and organized jointly by the International Pepper Community in close collaboration with the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia.
Mr. Iman Pambagyo, the past immediate Chairman of IPC who is also the Director General of International Trade Negotiations of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, while delivering his inaugural address at the meeting mentioned the need for strengthening collaborative works among the IPC member countries in addressing the quality related issues.
He further said that ÔÇ£In light of the situation of the stringent quality requirements set by the major consuming countries, the meeting of IPC Committee on Quality, as always, is the best hope for our collective ability to respond to all of these challengesÔÇØ
ÔÇ£The IPC should be able to generate quality related programs and activities, to consider and adopt strong and sophisticated methods of analysis, to provide training for laboratories personnel, to develop inter-laboratory proficiency testing program, etcÔÇØ Mr. Iman Pambagyo added.
The 23rd Meeting of IPC Committee was chaired by Mrs. Chandrini M. Dewi, Director of Standardization and Quality Control, Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Trade Compliance of the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia and among the outcome of the meeting were:
Revised the IPC Standard Specification for BWG Pepper
Finalized the draft of IPC Manual Methods of Analysis
Holding training programme for Laboratory Personnel in 2017
Conducting IPC Inter-Laboratory Proficiency Testing Programme in 2017
Promoting the IPC GMP Book to reach the growers, agricultural officers in producing centres
