IPC Farmers App Launching Ceremony.
19th July 2018 saw momentous event as IPC launched its IPC Farmers App at the office of the Governor of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung. IPC Farmers App is a collaborative project between International Pepper Community, BALITTRO, PT. Aman Jaya Perdana and Verstegen Spices and Sauces BV with the full support of the Ministry of the Agriculture and Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia. IPC Farmers' App, an interactive platform which is designed to assist pepper farmers in the member countries including Indonesia, with information and data on the cultivation practices, control of pests and diseases, market trends, etc. The IPC Farmers' App is expected to provide the farmers with a user-friendly guideline on the good agricultural practices, pests and diseases management control and features that enable the farmers to interact with the pepper experts through the IPC Farmers' App. Another highlight of the app is its Market Linkage feature by which farmers will be able to offer their produce for sale at their expected price. This offer will be made visible to large number of potential buyers who can then contact the farmer for closing the deal.

The launching ceremony was opened with a welcome speech by the Executive Director of International Pepper Community, Mrs. Hoang Thi Lien. The launching ceremony, attended by more than 100 farmers of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung Province, was addressed by Deputy-Governor of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung Province, Mr. Abdul Fatah. On this occasion the Director of Estate Crops and Horticulture Products, Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs of Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Wilistra Danny, and Director of APEC and other International Organization Negotiation, Mr. Deny W. Kurnia, gave their addresses. Furthermore, Corbel Biz as the developer of the App presented the app along-side with BALITTRO. The ceremony which also presented discussion between agricultural officers, farmers and BALITTRO, was also addressed by the Special Advisor to the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Muhammad Abduh.With the launch of this IPC Farmers App IPC hopes it will bring about better future for Pepper Farmer in Indonesia. IPC Farmers App is scheduled to be released next in India in August 2018.
