When Pepper Diplomacy Convenes: A Shared Vision for 2026

On 6 February 2026, a diplomatic exchange took place at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta, where the International Pepper Community (IPC) conducted a courtesy call with H.E. Sashikala Premawardhane, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Indonesia.
The exchange reflected the close and constructive engagement between the IPC and Sri Lanka as a long-standing member and important contributor to the global pepper sector. Sri Lanka's strategic role within the IPC was acknowledged, alongside its well-established reputation for high-quality pepper in the international market.
In the context of the IPC Chairmanship in 2026, the dialogue focused on the organization's strategic priorities for the year ahead, including efforts to support market stability, encourage the responsible use of technology in pepper farming, and reinforce sustainability and farmer welfare as core pillars of the IPC's work.
The exchange further touched upon opportunities to strengthen cooperation and engagement across the pepper value chain, consistent with the IPC's role as a platform for dialogue and collaboration.
Overall, the dialogue reaffirmed the IPC's commitment to advancing a stable, inclusive, and sustainable global pepper community through continued dialogue, trust, and partnership.
