The 25th Meeting of the IPC Committee on Quality
Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam was chosen to be the venue for the 25th Meeting of the IPC Committee on Quality during 27 - 28 August 2019. This annual IPC Meeting was co-hosted by Plant Protection Department of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development at the Southern Pesticide Control and Testing Center office located in Ho Chi Minh City. The two days meeting was officiated and inaugurated by Mr. Le Van Thiet the Deputy Director General of Plant Protection Department of Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development. During his inaugural speech, Mr. Thiet reminded participants that the unfavorable low price of pepper in recent years had resulted to farmers spending less on their crop management which resulting to low quality pepper product. He then encouraged participants to devise solution which would enable farmers to shift to a more biological treatment approach as opposed to chemicals.

The Meeting which was opened by the Executive Director of IPC, Mrs. Hoang Thi Lien, was attended by Committee of Quality Members from IPC members countries. During her welcome speech, Mrs. Lien expressed her beliefs that by addressing quality issues, we would be able to help increase the unfavorable low price. She further highlighted the IPC's quality related programme for the year 2019; IPC Proficiency Testing Program and IPC Technical Training of Testing Method for Laboratory Personnel. During the Meeting, the Committee adopted the booklet of GMP prepared by Indonesia to be published for Farmers.

The 25th Meeting of the IPC Committee on Quality was closed with a tour of the facilities and showcase of the equipment at the Southern Pesticide Control and Testing Center.
