IPC Best Award 2020

The International Pepper Community Best Award winners for 2020 were announced at the 49th Executive Meeting of the Heads of Delegations of the IPC which was held online on 14 December 2021. The IPC Best Award, dedicated for pepper farmers, manufactures and exporters, celebrates the finest individuals and companies of the pepper industry which have accomplished outstanding achievements over the past years. The winners for IPC Best Award were as follows:
IPC Best Farmers 2020
- Mr. Jomy Mathew - India
Mr. Jomy Mathew has shown relatively high average productivity per plant 7.2 Kg and the highest average productivity per Ha at 7,380 Kg/Ha from his garden. Furthermore, he also follows dedicated organic practices along with the use of enriched organic farm yard manure with NPK 300 gram each two times, micronutrienti - IISR pepper special and panniyurs foliar spraying two times. He also applies Prophylactic application of plant protection chemical application, use of multiple varieties, soil conservation measures, and use of orthotropic shoots for planting. With maturity crop of 7 years, his farm is harvested once a year and in 2020 reached a total yield of 17,7 Mt. - Mr. Ngerantar Anak Galau - Malaysia
Mr. Ngerantar Anak Galau has shown relatively high average productivity per vine 3.06 Kg and the highest average productivity per Ha at 6,12 Mt/Ha from his garden. With the total plants of 3,500 of kuching, semengok aman and semengok emas varieties, his farm is harvested once a year with total yield in 2020 amounted 8,9 Mt. With the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) he used compound fertilizer, dolomite and organic fertilizer to control the pest/diseases. - Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu - Viet Nam
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu cultivated pepper on Than 3, Xa Nam Yang, Huyen Dak Doa, Pleiku, Gia Lai, Viet Nam over the extent of 5 Ha with maturity of the plantation 7 years old. With the total plants of 9,600 of Vinh Linh variety, her farm is harvested once a year. The average yield of her farm is 2 Kg per Plant and 4 Ton per Ha with total yield in 2020 amounted 19.200 Kg of black pepper.
IPC Best Exporter of Value-Added Product 2020
- Herbal Isolates Pvt. Limited of India
Herbal Isolates Pvt. Limited has shown a very significant export value FOB added as high as USD 4.0 Million during the year of 2020. Herbal Isolates Pvt. Limited has obtained a number of certificates as kosher in 2021 issued by London Beth Din as well as Halal certificates issued by Jamiat Ulama Halal Foundation. Furthermore, Herbal Isolates Pvt. Limited also implemented Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). - PT. Haniori of Indonesia
PT. Haniori has shown a significant export value FOB added as high as USD 9.5 Million during the last three years. PT. Haniori has obtained a number of certificates such as Halal Certificate in 2021 issued by Indonesian Council of Ulama. In 2020, PT. Haniori has ISO 22000:2018 certificates issued by Sucofindo International Certification. Furthermore, PT. Haniori also adopted quality improvement measures such as low moisture level (14% or lower), 0% foreign material and etc. Due to the pandemic, PT. Haniori experienced shortage of container availability problem and solved by booking shipment space in advance upon confirming the CFR basis contract. - MDF Global SDN BHD of Malaysia
MDF Global SDN BHD has shown a very significant export value FOB added as high as USD 37.1 Million during the year of 2020. MDF Global SDN BHD has obtained a number of certificates as Good Manufacturing Practices in 2021 issued by Ministry of Health. In 2020, MDF Global SDN BHD has obtained Halal and National Pharmaceutical Regulatory certificates issued by Department of Islamic and Ministry of Health respectively as well as MESTI (Safe food certificate) issued by Ministry of Health in 2019. Furthermore, MDF Global SDN BHD also implemented Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as well as working together with Malaysia External Trade Development (MATRADE) Malaysia to solve logistic and export problems. - Lien Thanh Corporation of Viet Nam
Lien Thanh Corporation has shown a significant export value added as high as US$ 23.1 Million between the year of 2018 - 2020. With the implementation of steam sterilization technique, Lien Thanh Corporation has obtained series of certification which includes ISO 22000:2005 in 2016, Rainforest by NEPCON in 2018 and Halal by Halal VN in 2020. Lien Thanh Corporation has also been awarded the Top Ten Exporters for year 2016 - 2020 by the Vietnam Pepper Association.
Congratulations to all the winners of the IPC Best Award 2020 for their excellence achievements in 2020 despite challenges due to COVID-19 pandemic.
