MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS

The pepper market in the second week of October showed a mix response.
Both local and international price for Indian pepper continued to be reported with a decreasing trend since last week. According tothehindubusinessline.com, black pepper prices weakened due to soaring imports as well as weakening of demand.
As the Indonesian Rupiah weakened against the US Dollar (IDR 15,645 @ 1 USD) or 1% depreciation, both local and international prices for Indonesian pepper continued reported with a decreasing trend for the last two (2) weeks.
Only Malaysian local white pepper reported with an increasing trend this week. Whilst, the Malaysian local black pepper reported stable. Furthermore, the international price for Malaysian pepper reported with a decreasing trend this week.
As the Sri Lankan Rupee strengthened against the US Dollar (LKR 293.34 @ 1 USD) or 1% appreciation, the local price for Sri Lankan pepper continued to be reported with an increasing trend since last week.
Both local and international price for Vietnamese pepper reported with a decreasing trend this week.

Brazilian black pepper as well as Cambodian black pepper continued to be reported stable and unchanged for the last three (3) weeks. Furthermore, Chinese market started to open after Golden Week Public Holiday.
