In Indonesia, the harvest has completed and out put is significantly lower, particularly in Lampung. In Bangka, however, a marginal increase of production was reported. New material has arrived in the market, but the tone is not brisk in view of less production. Pepper price in Lampung was stable, while in Bangka decreased marginally. In Sarawak, the local prices were reported stable at MYR 25 and MYR 34 per Kg respectively for black and white pepper. Stable price was also recorded in Sri Lanka at the level of LKR 1,190 per Kg this week.

EXPORT OF PEPPER FROM SRI LANKA:
In 2013 Sri Lanka achieved the highest ever pepper production and export, reaching 28,000 Mt and 21,330 Mt, respectively. Due to unfavorable weather conditions prevailed during the latter part of 2013, spike initiation was arrested and as a result production of pepper in Sri Lanka is estimated to be declined significantly during 2014 which also effects on export of pepper. Up to July 2014, export of pepper from Sri Lanka was 5,035Mt, as against 9,165 Mt in the same period last year, registering a significant fall of 45%.
