Pepper prices increased further both in local as well as fob. Clear picture on the lower crop anticipated in Lampung this year has pushed the price up to the highest level achieved so far. Significant increase was recorded in Sri Lanka. In Brazil, harvest has begun in Espirito Santo and in some area of Para. The market however was quiet. FIFA World Cup in Brazil has influenced the situation.
EXPORT OF PEPPER FROM VIETNAM:
In May 2014, Vietnam exported 20,202 mt valued at USD 152 million as against 16,109 mt worth USD 103 million in May 2013. During January - May 2014, export of pepper from Vietnam was 95,716 mt valued at USD 671 million, as against 70,017 mt worth USD 458 million in the corresponding period of last year. The export has increased by 37% in quantity and 46% in value. The United States of America, the main market absorbed 19% of Vietnemse pepper, followed by Singapore (13%), United Araba Emirates (8%) and India (7%)
42ND SESSION AND MEETINGS OF IPC:
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Developmetn (MARD) of Vietnam has confirmed hotel venue for the 42nd Session and Meetings of at Sheraton Hotel, HCM City, Vietnam. The. MARD in close cooperation with the Vietnam Pepper Association and IPC are organizing the Session and Meetings of IPC which will take place from 27th - 30th October 2014. Information on the Session and online registration will be made available very soon at the IPC website.
