Pepper price in Viet Nam again increased during the week under review, both local price as well FOB price. Price at other sources, such as India, Indonesia and Sri Lanka decreased. In Viet Nam local price of black pepper increase by 2%, while for white pepper was reported stable. FOB price of black pepper increased by 4-5%.
In Lampung, the market was inactive in view of closing Lebaran festival. In addition to the above, availability of raw material at farms is also very limited. The price however stood at IDR 40,000 per Kg. When compared to average price in the previous week, a decrease of 4% was recorded. Weakening of local currency against US Dollar has also contributed to the decrease.
In Bangka, the price also remained unchanged at the level of IDR 75,000 per Kg. In dollar terms however, the price decreased by 2%. FOB price of black pepper in Lampung and white pepper in Bangka were reported stable during the week.
