The market continued to be calm and price at most origins were relatively stable, except in Viet Nam. In Viet Nam, the market was not brisk despite the harvest has almost completed. Pepper prices in HCMC were reported to have decreased due to limited overseas demand.
EXPORT OF PEPPER FROM BRAZIL
During February 2017, Brazil exported 3,963 Mt of pepper valued at US$ 25.3 million as against 3,950 Mt valued at US$ 33.2 million exported in February 2016. During January - February 2017, total export of pepper from Brazil was 7,362 Mt worth of US$ 48.9 million. When compared to exports of 8,257 Mt worth US$ 69.9 million over the same period last year, there was a decrease of 11% in quantity and 30% in value. Germany and United States of America were the main destination for Brazilian pepper during the first two months 2017. Spain, Mexico and Netherlands were also imported significant pepper from Brazil.
