The market showed a mixed response during the week. The price of black pepper in Vietnam and Lampung increased, while in India and Sri Lanka decreased. In Sarawak white pepper price increased, while in Bangka decreased. Because of very limited material and request to meet immediate commitment, local price of black pepper in HCMC increased daily from VND 185,000 per Kg at the beginning of the week to VND 194,000 at the week-s close. On an average the price increased by 2%. In Lampung, the harvest has completed and the output is significantly lower than estimated earlier. Due to high prices, farmers have picked pepper even before maturity which resulting more light berries

EXPORT OF PEPPER FROM MALAYSIA:
In July 2014 export of pepper from Malaysia is estimated at around 1,060 Mt (948 Mt of black and 112 Mt of white pepper), which is marginally higher from the export in July 2013. During January - July 2014 a volume of around 7,137 Mt, comprising of 5,679 Mt of black, 1,451 Mt of white and 7 Mt of green pepper have been shipped from Malaysia. Compared to the exports in the corresponding period of last year, the export has experienced an increase by 17%. Total export from Malaysia in 2014 is estimated to cross 13,000 Mt, supported by estimated better harvest this year.
