BLACK PEPPER: Approaching the year end, trading activities were limited, but prices remained steady. A slight decrease was recorded in Kochi for local and fob price. Futures price of pepper at the Commodity Exchange however increased up-to 3%. In Lampung, the price increased marginally, while at other origins the prices were relatively stable.

WHITE PEPPER: White pepper prices were also stable during the week. A marginal increase was recorded in Bangka for local prices.

EXPORT OF PEPPER FROM BRAZIL:
In November 2012, export of Brazil was more or less same as export in October 2011, but decreased when compared to export in the previous month. This indicated the stock has limited and confirms that the reported decrease in production this year. During January - November 2012, total export of pepper from Brazil was 26,712 mt valued at USD 180.7 million as against 28,743 mt worth USD 179.3 million of the corresponding period of last year, recording a decrease of 7% in quantity but marginally increased by 1% in value. The United States and Germany were the main destinations for Brazilian pepper absorbing 52% (USA 32% and Germany 20%)
