In India Pepper prices continued to move up due to buying by short position holders. The pepper market witnessed high volatility on Wednesday and closed in a mixed trend following good liquidation and switching over in the futures, while aggressive buying interest was seen in the spot market which pushed the MG1 price to the historic Rs 326 a kg level. May contracts on the NCDEX were up by Rs 185 at Rs 36,240 per quintal. Spot prices moved up by Rs 100 to close at Rs 34,200 (ungarbled) and Rs 35,700 (garbled) per quintal.

Vietnam-s domestic pepper price has reached its highest rate ever at VND120,000 (US$5.7) a kilogram, Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA) announced at its annual conference in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday.

Brazilian Pepper market almost stabilized at the 6,250/6,300 level for B1. Prices in the main producing region are very resistant and stay at R$ 11,50 - R$11,70 /kg in Belem. In Espirito Santo area the expected May crop may not be available and will be delayed for July/August, while in the northern Para it is expected from August . However prices in Espirito Santo are sligtly lower at around R$ 10,70 even with the very limited availability, because the growers are seeking cash for next coming coffe harvest.
