During the opening week of February, The global pepper market demonstrated positive price trends across producing countries during the reporting period, with no producing country recording negative market movement. Furthermore, The U.S. market is currently showing weaker price levels compared to producing origin markets.
India pepper prices in both domestic and export markets moved higher on a week-to-week basis. This development was supported in part by a nearly 1 percent strengthening of the Indian Rupee, which averaged INR 90.76 per USD over the reporting week.
Indonesia domestic and international pepper prices remained stable throughout the week, supported by steady exchange rate.
Malaysia domestic and international pepper prices showed no significant movement in the first week of February, indicating continued price stability.
Sri Lanka Domestic pepper prices moved upward as Sri Lanka celebrated its Independence Day this week.
Viet Nam Higher domestic white pepper prices were reported during the week, while prices of other pepper varieties remained unchanged for the second consecutive week.
Similarly, prices of Brazilian black pepper, Cambodian black pepper, and Chinese white pepper remained stable and unchanged during the reporting week, indicating relatively calm trading conditions in these origins.
During the period 2025, Thailand exported a total of 830 metric tonnes of pepper. South Africa emerged as the principal destination, accounting for 292 metric tonnes, followed by Australia, the United States, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
