The market watched on the developments in Vietnam, the main supplier which is now in harvesting season. Entering the second week of February, trading activity in HCMC has been actively recovered after a long holiday season of Lunar New Year. Pepper price in Vietnam has showed a decreasing trend. New material from current crop has arrived in the market. At other sources, except in Sri Lanka, the price of black pepper also decreased. In respect of white pepper, the price in Bangka increased, while in other source decreased marginally.

EXPORT OF PEPPER FROM MALAYSIA:
During 2013, Malaysia have shipped 12,105 mt of pepper, comprising 9,879 mt of black, 2,187 mt of white and 301 mt of green pepper. The export registered an increase of 14% when compared to exports of 10,588 mt (8,481 mt of black. 2.071 mt of white and 35 mt of green pepper) exported in 2011. The export in 2013 was however still lower when compared to export in 2011 at 14,355 mt. The following table and chart shows monthly export figures from Malaysia in metric tons.
