The market was inactive during the week as leading pepper players from major producing countries of India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brazil, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, China and Cambodia as trade representatives from major importing countries participated at the 43rd Annual Session and Meetings of IPC held at Radisson Blu Plaza, Mysore, Karnataka, India during 22-26 November 2015. Pepper prices recorded at most origins were relatively stable. Price increase was noticed in Sri Lanka from LKR 1,224 per Kg locally to LKR 1,246 per Kg during the week under review. In Sarawak, local price in dollar terms increased by 3% due to strengthening of Malaysian Ringgit against US dollar.

The 43rd Annual Session of IPC hosted by Spices Board, Ministry of Commerce, India and organized jointly with the IPC Jakarta. More than 250 officials, researchers, trade delegates, pepper producers from producing and consuming countries participated at the Conference. Country papers from producing countries and other technical and theme papers presented by official representatives of IPC countries as well as trade representatives from producing and consuming countries were discussed in the meetings.

The 43rd Session also discussed the World Pepper market Scenario for 2014 - 2016 and below are the summary of the adopted statement of production, import, export and consumption of pepper by producing countries for 2014 (actual) and estimates for 2015 (in Mt).

The Pepper Statistical Yearbook of 2014 has been released during the 43rd Session of IPC. This latest issue of IPC World Pepper Statistics covers the data for 2004-2014.
