Pepper prices remained stable during the week, even increased locally for black Pepper in Vietnam and Sri Lanka. Market activity however was reported limited, since producers are holding materials, in anticipation of getting higher price. Marginal decrease in dollar for local price of Pepper in Sarawak was recorded this week. This was due to weakening of Malaysian Ringgit against US Dollar. In terms of FOB price, it was reported stable at all the origins

IMPORT OF PEPPER BY GERMANY:
In 2014 import of Pepper into Germany decreased by 16% from 30,828 Mt in 2013 to 25,962 Mt (23,503 Mt of whole Pepper and 2,459 Mt of ground Pepper) in 2014. Import of whole Pepper decreased by 5,307 Mt (18%) ; while for ground Pepper increased by 441 Mt (22%). In 2015, import of Pepper into Germany is estimated to be higher from last year, as indicated by total quantity of Pepper imported during the first half of the year. During January - June 2015, Germany has imported 13,621 Mt (12,488 Mt of whole Pepper and 1,133 Mt of ground Pepper), registering an increase of 5% from import in the same period last year. Major share of Pepper imported into Germany in the first six months of 2015 was from Brazil (43%). Vietnam, the main supplier last year supplied only 19% this year, followed by Indonesia 14% and India 9%. Monthly import figures and chart are as given below.
