Black Pepper: In Kuching, Malaysia, local prices of black pepper has shown upward trend when compared to the last week average price and recorded an increase of 3%. In Cochin, India prices also slightly moved up by 1% on the good demand, while in Lampung, black pepper local prices were reported to be steady. In HCM City price has come down by 3% while in Sri Lanka priced decline by 1%. FOB prices of Lampung Pepper during the week have recorded a drop by 4% while in Kuching, FOB prices increased by 2% and in other origins, FOB prices of black were reported to be steady.
White Pepper: Local prices of white pepper in Bangka and Kuching were reported to increase by 3%, while in Vietnam prices dropped by 1%. Meanwhile the prolong draught due to el-NINO phenomenon have been reported to affect all the agriculture crops, including Pepper. In Bangka Province, Indonesia, the major pepper growing areas for white pepper, some pepper fields have been affected by the long dry season, similarly in the other growing areas in Indonesia like Kalimantan. If no rain by November, there is a possibility of that the pepper production from the major growing areas may decline in the next harvest.
43RD SESSION OF IPC - a must attend event for the world pepper players IPC will be holding the 43rd Session and Meetings of IPC during 22nd - 25th November 2015 in Mysore, Karnataka, India.
