Domestic price of pepper at sources has shown a slight change. Marginal decreases were recorded in India, Vietnam and Sri Lanka. In Lampung and Sarawak, the prices were relatively stable. In dollar terms however, local price in Lampung decreased marginally, but increased in Sarawak. This was due to currency rate of IDR continued to devaluate during the week, while for MYR, it has shown a revaluate. In Bangka, white pepper price has decreased both local price as well as fob price.

IMPORT OF PEPPER BY UNITED KINGDOM:
In 2014 import of pepper into United Kingdom decreased by 16% from 12,945 Mt (3,833 Mt of whole and 9,112 Mt of ground pepper) in 2013 to 10,925 Mt (3,208 Mt of whole and 7,717 Mt of ground pepper) in 2014. Continuous tight supply in 2015 has resulted prices to increase further. Under this situation, import of pepper into the United Kingdom is estimated to be not as high as 2014 imports, even lower from last year. Indication of the decrease is shown by total import of United Kingdom during the first half of the year. During January-June 2015, total import of United Kingdom was 4,579 Mt, registering a decrease of 18% from import in the same period last year (5,556 Mt). It is interesting to note that import of whole pepper increased by 29%; while import of ground pepper decreased by 33%. Major share of pepper imported into United Kingdom in the first six months of 2015 was from Vietnam and India. Monthly import figures in metric tons and chart are given below.
