WPB Week #40/14, 29 September - 3 October 2014
Domestic markets in producing countries showed a mixed response during this week. In Vietnam and Sarawak, local prices experienced a marginal decrease while in Sri Lanka increased by 3%. Local price in Indonesia and Brazil were reported stable, but in dollar terms decreased marginally due to weakening of local currencies against US dollar. Fob prices remained stable, except in Brazil for black and in Vietnam for white pepper. Under the situation of tight stock in Vietnam and Indonesia, the most important sources of pepper, price is expected to remain steady until harvest in India and Vietnam begins in early 2015.
