BLACK PEPPER: Pepper markets were reported to be quiet in most of the origins, with the exception in Vietnam. In Cochin, trading was reported to be very limited due to lack of sellers and buyers in the market. In Lampung, black pepper local prices have fell by 3%, and in the case of FOB prices declined by 2% mainly due to the strengthening of the USD to IDR, while in Sri Lanka prices dropped by 7% as compared to the last week-s average due to lack of demand.

WHITE PEPPER: White pepper prices in Bangka, Indonesia have gone up by 2%, while in other origins, prices were reported to be stable.

EXPORT OF WHITE PEPPER FROM BANGKA, INDONESIA:
During 2013, export of white pepper from Indonesia was reported at 16,561 MT, valued at US$ 150 million as against 13,107 MT worth USD 119 million in 2012. Out of the total export of 16,561 MT in 2013, a volume of 8,785 MT was shipped from Bangka Port. Bangka island is the most important white pepper producing area in Indonesia. During the first semester of 204 (Jan-June), a total 3,300 MT of white pepper is estimated to be shipped from Bangka Port showing continues increase when compared to the total export in the last two years of 2013 (3,039 MT) and 2012 (2,969 MT) of the corresponding period. However the increase in exports of white pepper from Bangka was still marginal and this reflects that the production development from this major white pepper producer in Indonesia is not significant.
