MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS


The global pepper market exhibited mixed trends during the week. Local black pepper prices in Sri Lanka recorded a decline, marking the only downturn among major producing countries. In contrast, the United States market demonstrated notable strengthening, driven by constrained supply conditions and heightened demand from European buyers.
Domestic and international prices of Indian pepper remained stable with no significant changes reported.
Following two consecutive weeks of upward movement, both domestic and international prices of Indonesian pepper stabilized this week. Additionally, the majority of farmers in Lampung Province have now completed their harvest season.
Domestic prices of Malaysian black pepper remained stable, while prices of other Malaysian pepper varieties continued their upward trend.
After three consecutive weeks of stability, local pepper prices in Sri Lanka entered a downward trajectory, representing the only reported decline among the key producing countries.
Domestic pepper prices in Viet Nam experienced upward adjustments for the third consecutive week. However, international prices remained stable and unchanged.

Brazilian pepper prices recorded an upward adjustment over the past week. In comparison, Cambodian black pepper and Chinese white pepper prices remained stable, with no notable variations.
Between 2023 and April 2025, Bulgaria exported a cumulative total of 78 metric tons of pepper. North Macedonia emerged as the largest importer (38 metric tons), followed by Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, and Latvia.
