Market activity in Lampung and Bangka has started to squirm. Farmers have returned to pepper field for picking pepper, after completing a long holiday for celebrating Iedl Fitri festival. Pepper prices at most origins decreased during the week under review, except in India. This might be influenced by arrival of the pepper harvest in Indonesia, which is expected to be better than last year. In Lampung local price of black pepper decreased IDR 5,000 per Kg to IDR 113,000 during the week; while in Bangka decreased by IDR 3,000 per Kg to IDR 173,000. In Sri Lanka, pepper price at growing areas decreased b 3%. Marginal decrease was also recorded in Sarawak. In India, pepper price increased by INR 5 per Kg to INR 625 per Kg on 22nd July 2015.

IMPORT OF PEPPER BY GERMANY:
In April 2015, Germany imported 2,484 Mt of pepper (2,286 Mt of whole and 198 Mt of ground pepper) against 3,252 Mt (3,095 Mt of whole and 157 Mt of ground pepper) in April 2014. During January - April 2015, Germany has imported 9,045 Mt (8,226 Mt of whole and 819 Mt of ground pepper), recording a marginal increase of 2%, compared to imports of 8,891 Mt (8,163 Mt of whole and 728 Mt of ground pepper) in the corresponding period of the last year. Major share of pepper imported into Germany was from Brazil, supplying almost 50% during January - April 2015. Vietnam and Indonesia supplied around 15% each.
