Pepper price continued to be stronger at most origins, except price of black Pepper in Sarawak. In Kochi, Lampung and Sri Lanka, the price increased by around 3 to 4%; while in Sarawak decreased by 4%. On-going harvest is taking place in Sarawak, may be the main reason for the fall in price. In Vietnam, local price of black pepper increased by VND 2,000 per Kg to VND 182,000 /Kg. in the last two days. It was reported that harvest in Vietnam has completed and the output was lower compared to previous year harvest. Under this circumstances export of Pepper from Vietnam is anticipated to be lower this year.

IMPORTOF PEPPER BY RUSSIA:
Russia is one of the important markets for pepper in Europe. During the last decade Russia imported pepper around 9,000 Mt annually. Out of this around 90% were whole pepper and 10% ground pepper. During the previous two years (2012 and 2013) pepper imported into Russia was at the level of around 9,700 Mt, but in 2014 the import has decreased significantly to around 7,900 Mt. This was mainly due to limited supply from India following a significant fall of harvest in India in 2014. Import from Vietnam has also decreased during the year.
