BLACK PEPPER
Pepper prices in India have registered an increasing trend both at the producer level and export level. The FOB price of black pepper level which was opened at US$ 11,668 per MT at the beginning of the week got stronger and stronger to reach its new peak price at US$ 12,168 per MT on Thursday. This has recorded an increase by 8% as compared to the average price of last week which was at US$11,105 per MT. The rumor on shortfall of black pepper production from India and Indonesia, coupled with the high domestic demand has pushed the pepper prices in India to shoot up during the week. Marginal increase in prices of FOB black pepper prices were also seen in Lampung and Ho Chi Minh City, while in Malaysia, FOB pepper price was reported to be stable at US$8,600 per MT.

WHITE PEPPER
In Bangka, Indonesia, white pepper price has recorded a shortfall both at the producer and at export level. Local market price recorded a decrease by 6% while FOB price was down by 5%. The decline in the pepper prices in Bangka may be attributed by news on the expectation of slightly higher output of white pepper from Bangka and the harvesting season is to start by next month. White pepper prices in other origins of Malaysia and Vietnam were reported to be steady.

42nd SESSION & MEETINGS OF IPC, 27-30 OCT 2014, HCM CITY, VIETNAM
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) of Vietnam has confirmed that the 42nd Session and Meetings of IPC will be hosted by Vietnam from 27-30 October 2014 at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The IPC in close cooperation with the MARD and Vietnam Pepper Association will be jointly organizing the Session and Meetings. More detailed information about the IPC Session will be made available shortly at the IPC website.
