MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS

During the second week of October, the global pepper market exhibited mixed movements across producing countries, reflecting varying domestic currency dynamics and localized supply conditions.
Both domestic and international prices of Indian pepper recorded upward adjustments this week partly driven by a 1% appreciation of the Indian Rupee (INR 87.96/USD).
After four consecutive weeks of stability, domestic and international prices of Indonesian pepper recorded a moderate upward correction.
Domestic and international prices of Malaysian pepper continued their downward trajectory for the second consecutive week, amid subdued export demand.
Following three weeks of stability, local pepper prices in Sri Lanka declined steadily throughout the week, influenced by limited buying interest in the domestic market.
Domestic prices of Vietnamese pepper registered a mild increase, while international quotations remained stable amid balanced market sentiment.

Brazilian pepper prices continued to ease for the third consecutive week. In contrast, Cambodian black pepper experienced upward adjustments, while Chinese white pepper prices remained stable and unchanged.
Between 2023 and July 2025, Switzerland exported a cumulative volume of 67 metric tons (MT) of pepper. Germany remained the leading importer with 43 MT, followed by the Netherlands, Austria, Brazil, and Romania.
