Except in India and Malaysia, local price of black Pepper were stable. In Kochi, India and Kuching, Malaysia the price decreased. Local prices of white pepper were also stable; but in dollar term, local price of white in Bangka and Kuching decreased, due to weakening of local currency against US Dollar. FOB prices at most of the producing countries were also reported stable.
IMPORT OF PEPPER BY THE UNITED STATES:
In the last decade United States of America imported annually around 70,000 Mt of Pepper and monthly import was around 5-6,000 Mt. The United States imported 5955 Mt. in January 2015 compared to 5240 Mt. in the same month of previous year of January 2014, which has increased to 13%, subsequently there is an increase of import in the month of February 2015 by 5,163 Mt of Pepper, an increase of more than 50% from 3,422 Mt imported in the month of February 2014. During January - February 2015 the United States imported 11,118 Mt (6,671 Mt of black, 444 Mt of white and 4,002 Mt of ground Pepper). Total import in the first two months was higher compared to the total import in the same period of previous year. Import of whole black and ground Pepper increased; while import of white Pepper decreased. Brazil was the main source of pepper for the United States, supplying more than 50% during months of November 2014 - February 2015, replacing Vietnam and Indonesia to the second and third. Indonesia and India remained the most important source for white and ground pepper respectively.
IPC and CHINAESA to hold the 3rd International Pepper Conclave 2015 in Shanghai
The International Pepper Community in close collaboration with the China Essential Oils, Aroma & Spices Trade Association (CHINAEASA) of the Chamber of Commerce based in Beijing will be organizing the Intl. Pepper Conclave 2015 scheduled to be held during 25th-26th June 2015 at Shanghai, New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), Shanghai, China.
