The market continued with mixed response during this week. In India, Malabar black decreased from INR 710 per kg at the beginning of the week to INR 686 on Thursday, 29th May. In Vietnam and Sri Lanka, the price of black pepper increased. While in Lampung and Sarawak the prices were reported stable. In dollar term, the price of Lampung black decreased marginally due to weakening of Indonesian Rupiah against US Dollar. In Bangka, white pepper price increased by IDR 1,500 per kg to IDR 120,000 this week. In Dollar terms however the price was stable. Local price of white pepper at other source were reported stable

EXPORT OF PEPPER FROM MALAYSIA:
During 2013, Malaysia exported 12,105 mt of pepper comprising of 9,879 mt of black, 2,187 mt of white and 39 mt of green pepper. This represented an increase of 14% compared to the export of 10,588 performed in 2012. Up to April 2014, Malaysia exported 3,355 mt (2,475 mt of black, 876 mt of white and 4 mt of green pepper), registering a marginal decrease of 1% from the corresponding period of last year. The lower export performance during the high prevailing price, reflected that the stock of Sarawak pepper is limited..
