BLACK PEPPER: The market remains strong with limited activity in most of the producing countries. In Vietnam however, the market was active since the material from recent crop has come to the market. Due to limited stock at other sources, Vietnam is the single supplier and determining market direction. Pepper prices in Vietnam remained stable during the week. Prices in India, Lampung and Sarawak were also reported stable. Marginal decrease was only recorded in fob price of Sarawak black; while in Sri Lanka the domestic price increased by 3%.
WHITE PEPPER: In Bangka and Vietnam, the white pepper price was stable. Local price of Sarawak was also stable, but fob price decreased by 1%. A marginal decrease was also recorded in Hainan.

EXPORT OF PEPPER FROM MALAYSIA:
Malaysia exported around 620 mt of pepper (515 mt of black and 105 mt of white pepper) in February 2013 as against 777 mt of export in February 2012. During the last five months export of pepper from Malaysia experienced a continuous decrease from October 2012 (1,158 mt). The continuous decrease reflected that supply from Malaysia is currently limited.
