MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS


The pepper market in the first week of April continued to show a mix response.
Both local and international price for Indian pepper continued to be reported with an increasing trend since last week.
Indonesian black pepper reported with an increasing trend for the last four (4) weeks.
Whilst, Indonesian white pepper price continued to be reported with a decreasing trend since last week as less stock reported in the market.
Only Malaysian local pepper price reported with an increasing trend this week. Whilst, the others reported stable and unchanged.
Even though the Sri Lankan Rupee strengthened against the US Dollar (LKR 300.04 @ 1 USD) or 1% appreciation,
the local price for Sri Lankan pepper continued to be reported with a decreasing trend for the last two (2) weeks.
Only Vietnamese international white pepper price reported with an increasing trend this week.
Whilst, the others remained stable as domestic market reported stable.

Brazilian black pepper, Cambodian black pepper and Chinese white pepper continued to be reported stable and unchanged this week.
Pepper prices on the US market have weakened slightly in the last two (2) weeks in line with increasing selling pressure from the country of origin.
