MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS


The global pepper market exhibited mixed trends, with only Malaysia recording an increase in local pepper prices. Meanwhile, the global market faced subdued demand ahead of the US tariff implementation on August 1, 2025. Nevertheless, prices remained largely stable despite certain pepper-producing countries limiting shipments to the USA.
After two consecutive weeks of decline, both local and international prices of Indian pepper stabilized over the week.

Local pepper prices in Malaysia experienced an upward adjustment, making it the only major producing country to report a price increase this week. In contrast, international prices of Malaysian pepper remained stable throughout the period.
Following two consecutive weeks of increases, local pepper prices in Sri Lanka remained steady this week.
Vietnamese local pepper prices continued to decline, while international prices remained unchanged.

Brazilian pepper prices showed an upward trend this week. Meanwhile, prices of Cambodian black pepper and Chinese white pepper remained stable with no significant changes.
Between 2023 and May 2025, South Africa imported a total of 1,516 metric tons (MT) of pepper. Viet Nam was the leading supplier with 966 MT, followed by China, India, Zambia, and Thailand.
