EXPORT OF PEPPER FROM INDONESIA:
During 2013, Indonesia exported 47,908 mt of pepper (31,347 mt of black and 16,561 mt of white pepper) valued at USD 347 million, decreased by 23% in volume and 18% in value. The decrase was due to significant fall of production in 2013, particularly black. This year production of black pepper is estimated to again lower, due to prolonged weat weather. Due to limited stock brough forward from 2013 and projected lower production this year, export of pepper in 2014 is estimated to be again lower from the export achieved in 2013. Export performance in January - March 2014 is shown in the following chart and table.
