it.assistant@ipcnet.org 13 Dec 2013 9

Pepper price is firm this week. Main reason for this situation is lack of available material at all origins. Pepper harvest in India is approaching. The size however is reportedly to be smaller and will easily be absorbed by domestic demand. This likely situation will not significantly influence market direction. In Kochi, India, pepper price of Malabar black increased significantly to INR 512 per kg from INR 490 last week. In Lampung, black pepper price increased by IDR 2,500 per kg; while in Bangka, white pepper price increased by IDR 9,000 per kg to IDR 124,000 mt this week. In HCMC, Vietnam, prices increased by 1% for black and 2% for white pepper. Sarawak black increased from MYR 18.6 per kg last week to MYR 19 at the week-s close. A marginal increase was also recorded for Sarawak white.
