Entering December the market of pepper is reportedly getting hotter. Prices at all origins continued to move up further. In Vietnam pepper price increased up to 4%. Trading activity however is limited in view of very tight stock. In Sarawak, local price of black pepper increased by 2% and for white pepper increased marginally by 1%. Malabar black increased from INR 486 per kg at the beginning of the week to INR 490 on Thursday. In Lampung and Sri Lanka, local prices of black pepper were reportedly stable. In dollar terms however, the price decreased marginally by 1% due to weakening of local currency against US Dollar. In Bangka, Muntok white pepper price increased significantly by 5% to IDR 115,000 per kg from IDR 109,000 last week.

EXPORT OF PEPPER FROM BRAZIL:
Pepper harvest in Brazil has completed and output of this year harvest is estimated at the level of 33,000 mt. Export of pepper has shown an increase in October 2013 to 4,226 mt from 2,946 mt achieved in September During January - October 2013, export of pepper from Brazil was 24,729 mt, valued at USD 158.8 million. When compared to the export of 22,408 mt in the same period of last year, an increase of 10% was recorded. Brazil is targeting to export 28,000 mt the year 2013. Hence, in the remaining months of the year, export from Brazil will be about 3,300 mts.
