In the second week of January, the global pepper market exhibited differentiated price movements across major producing origins. Overall market conditions reflected a generally stable outlook, with variations largely linked to origin-specific supply dynamics. During the period, Indian pepper was the only origin to register a modest price adjustment.
In India, both domestic and international pepper prices recorded a moderate decline compared with the previous week, reflecting seasonal supply conditions as harvesting activities continued.
In Indonesia, domestic and international pepper prices remained stable throughout the week, supported by steady exchange rate conditions and balanced market fundamentals.
Malaysia's domestic and international pepper prices showed no significant movement in the second week of 2026, indicating continued price stability.
In Sri Lanka, domestic pepper prices remained largely unchanged over the week, pointing to stable market conditions.
In Viet Nam, both domestic and international pepper prices demonstrated a strengthening trend during the week, reflecting firm market sentiment.
For the second consecutive week, Brazilian black pepper prices recorded further increases. Meanwhile, black pepper prices in Cambodia and white pepper prices in China remained steady, underscoring generally stable pricing conditions across these origins.
From a trade perspective, during the period January to September 2025, the United States of America imported a total of 64,260 metric tonnes of pepper. Viet Nam emerged as the leading supplier, accounting for 44,550 metric tonnes, followed by Indonesia, India, Brazil, and China.
