The market was inactive during the week under review as most of the pepper players from major producing countries, like Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Brazil, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, China and Cambodia as well as buyers from major importing countries participated at the 42nd Annual Session and Meetings of IPC held at Sheraton Hotel, HCM City, Vietnam during 27-30 October 2014. Responding clear picture on the market situation, the market showed a bullish trend at the end of the week. In India and Sri Lanka the price increased, while in Indonesia and Malaysia price was relatively stable.
SPECIAL REPORT:
The 42nd Annual Session of IPC hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam and organized jointly by Vietnam Pepper Association and the IPC Jakarta were participated by nearly 400 Officials, Researchers, Farmers and Trade delegates from 28 countries (producing and consuming countries). Papers presented by speakers from the IPC countries as well as spice trade associations from consuming countries were discussed in the meetings. The papers will be made available at IPC website soon for downloading by the registered delegates. Market scenario for 2013 - 2015 was also discussed at the Pepper Tech and Pepper Exim meetings. Summary of production, import, export and consumption of pepper by producing countries in 2013 and 2014 (in Mt) are given below.
