The market continued to be stronger. Pepper prices increased further at most origins, except in Sri Lanka. In Vietnam, black pepper price increased by VND 7,000 recording VND 178,000 per kg this week. While that for white pepper it was reported stable. In Lampung the price of black pepper increased by IDR 2,000 per kg from IDR 94,000 last week. In dollar terms the price increased by 4%. In Kochi, India, Malabar black increased from INR 700 per kg last week to INR 720 at the week-s close. There is no sign of slowing down this week.

IMPORT OF PEPPER BY NETHERLANDS:
Netherlands as one of the important pepper trading countries in Europe imported 15.006 Mt of pepper in 2013, comprising 10,620 Mt of whole pepper and 4,386 Mt of ground pepper as against 16,506 Mt imported in 2012 Major portion of pepper imported by the Netherlands was for re-export to the neighboring countries in EU. Up to March 2014, total import of Netherlands was 3,591 Mt (2,545 Mt of whole pepper and 1,046 Mt of ground pepper), recording an increase of 3% when compared to import of 3,491 Mt (2,537 Mt of whole and 854 Mt of ground pepper) in the corresponding period last year. Import of ground pepper increased, while for whole pepper decreased. Vietnam was the most important pepper supplier for Netherlands followed by Indonesia
