In 2018, Poland was reported to have imported a total 7,251 Mt of pepper which 83% or 6,011 Mt of it comprised of whole pepper while 17% or 1,240 Mt of it was ground pepper. The average import of pepper by Poland in 2018 was reported to be 604 Mt per month with the highest quantity recorded in November with 723 Mt. Year 2019 saw an increasing trend in term of quantity of pepper import by Poland. Poland was reported to have recorded a total of 8,367 Mt which 80% or 6,681 Mt of it comprised of whole pepper and 20% or 1,686 Mt of it was ground pepper. Thus, recording an increase of 15% when compared to the same period in 2018. The average pepper imported by Poland was reported at 697 Mt per month which peaked in May with 852 Mt. Although increasing in terms of quantity, Poland was reported to have spent 16% less on its pepper import, totaling at USD 28.2 Million, Thus, recording an average price of the total pepper imported by Poland at USD 3,220 per Mt for whole pepper and USD 4,007 per Mt for ground pepper or a decrease by 27% and 30% respectively as compared to 2018.

The top five countries of origins of Poland's pepper as of March 2020 were reported to be Viet Nam with 416 Mt (an increase of 65% as compared to the same period in 2019), France with 368 Mt (a decrease of 17%), Germany with 307 Mt (a decrease of 60%), Netherlands with 113 Mt (an increase of 57%) and Austria with 26 Mt (a decrease of 26%). The decreased of Poland import from Germany and Austria could be contributed to Poland preference of importing from origin country which offered more competitive price such as Viet Nam (an increase by 164 Mt as compared to the same period in 2019) and Netherlands which are the re-export hub to European countries (an increase by 41 Mt).
